Our communications guru, Annette Nugent and I will give presentations on The Casement Project at The Arts Council’s 2023: Future Retrospectives symposium. This symposium offers The Arts Council and artists an opportunity to engage with the arts community, the academic community, the media and the wider public on the role that art plays in commemoration. Lian Bell, our project manager on The Casement Project will be talking too about her transformative work on Waking the Feminists.
The symposium will comprise of a series of panel discussions, short lectures, and performances from diverse voices including artists Louise Lowe and Una Kavanagh, Áine Phillips, Garrett Phelan, Dan Colley and Annemarie Ní Chuirreáin, Chair of Culture Ireland Mary McCarthy, communications consultant, Annette Nugent and scholars, Dr Ellen Rowley, Professor Emily Mark Fitzgerald and Dr. Mairéad Enright. The symposium will feature a keynote address by Deborah Shaw, Head of Programming at the Historic Royal Palaces, UK, who commissioned the landmark, large scale installation of poppies at the Tower of London, Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red.
